ONE DAY ONE PHOTO / BİR GÜN BİR FOTOĞRAF

Fotoğraflarım, benim günlüğüm.

Her gün sokağa çıkıyorum. ‘Güzel anları berbat eden kaygılardan uzak’, mutlu olabilmek isteğiyle. Sokakta hayatın her anına tanıklık etmeye çalışıyorum. Günlüğüme sığdırmaya çalıştıklarımı makinemle kaydediyorum. Sokağın aynı anda hem korkunç hem de mükemmel olan o dengesi benim fotoğrafta nefes almamı sağlıyor. Her yere gitmeye çalışıyorum, ulaştığım yerde görmem gereken daha çok yer olduğunu düşünüp tekrar yola koyuluyorum. İnsanlar, deniz, kaldırımlar, hayvanlar, doğa… Kısacası her an bir öncekinin üstüne çıkıyor, adeta yok ediyor. En çok bu yok oluş, ötelenmişlik, yoksulluk ve öteki kavramları beni ilgilendiriyor. Bu kavramlar fotoğrafta varlık nedenim. Bu nedenden dolayı İstanbul sokaklarını hiç bu kadar eskitememiştim. Bir aydır yollardayım. Bir aydır yakınından gelip geçtiğimiz ya da yaklaşmaktan korktuğumuz hayatlara sizin için yaklaşıyorum. En çok da kendim için! Hayatta gizlenmeye çalışılmış, geride bırakılmış, yüzleşmekten kaçtığımız ne varsa, tanıklık ediyorum. Fotoğraflarımla günlüğüme not ediyorum. Bu notları bir ay boyunca sizlerle paylaştım. Eğer günlüğüm ötekini anlamaya dair korkmadan, kendimizle yüzleşerek biraz daha onlara yaklaşmamıza vesile olduysa ne mutlu tanıklığıma.
Bir ay boyunca yorumlarıyla fotoğrafıma yön veren sevgili eşim Elif Açın Doğar’a, bana belgesel fotoğraf adına üretmem gerektiğini hatırlatan dostum Loiez Deniel’e, düşünceleriyle yol gösteren Efe Duyan, Özgür Öztürk kardeşlerime, öneri mailleriyle bana yol gösteren NHKM Sanat Cephesi dostlarıma, fotoğraflarıma her gün vakit ayıran, paylaşan, öneren, öğütleyen tüm dostlara sevgi ve en derin saygılarımı sunarım.

My photographs are my diary,
I go out every day. For get away “from the concerns which ruins the best moments.” I try to witness every moment of life in the street. I took photos of the moments which i try to put in my diary. The balance of the street which can be magnificent and infernal at the same time helps me to breathe. I try to go everywhere, when i reach the place i suddenly think that there are lots of places to see and i hit the road again. People, sea, pavements, animals, nature… Every moment comes up on the previous one. Most of this destruction, the other side of the life , poverty and the other concepts concerns me. These concepts are the presence of my photo. For this reason i couldn’t walk through Istanbul’s streets this much. I’m on the way for a month.For a month i get close to the lives which we pass through and afraid to get near, for you. Especially for myself! I witness the truth of life which we try to deny, leave and hide. I take notes with my photographs. For a month i shared my notes with you. If my diary had helped us to understand and be close to the others facing with ourselves thanks to my witness.

My profound thanks to my wife Elif Açın Doğar, who gave the direction to my photos with her comments for a month, my friend Loiez Deniel who told me to take documentary photos, to my brothers Efe Duyan and Özgür Öztürk who helped me with his opinions ,My friends from NHKM for their suggestion mails and for their support. Thanks to everybody who spend their time looking at my photos, who shared their comments and expertise. To all off you, I extend my deep appreciation.
